Established in 2009, House of Kiran is a performing arts and production company dedicated to educating and empowering youth by virtue of music, song, dance, art and culture. We offer classes in dance, musical theatre, fitness and yoga, production and creative direction. House of Kiran is home to DĀNCE KRIYĀ - a contemporary Indian dance company.
Since its inception, the company has produced, directed, choreographed and fundraised for projects spanning stage, film, television, music and non-profit. We also provide a variety of scholarships based in performance or arts education. To learn more, please visit our scholarships page.
In 2014 in partnership with Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, House of Kiran established the Maple Batalia Memorial Scholarship for the Arts which provides scholarships to South-Asian Canadian women pursuing studies in the arts. Maple Batalia was a model, actress and visual artist/painter who aspired to be a doctor but was tragically gunned down at her university campus in Surrey, British Columbia in 2011 at the age of nineteen. In 2016, Maple's ex-boyfriend confessed to her murder. A Bravofact film showcasing the artistic works of Batalia was written, produced and directed by Krystal Kiran as a visual component for the scholarship (watch above). For more information please visit www.maplebatalia.org. To donate directly to Maple's memorial fund online, click here (specify "Maple Batalia Memorial Scholarship for the Arts"). A very special thank you to all of the artists, collaborators, performers, crews and companies we've had the opportunity to work with on this and other projects.
